Making a Change

My baby is 6 months old, and I'm still 30 lbs heavier than my normal "heavy" weight. This has to stop. I've been lucky enough to work with a personal trainer for the past 3 months, and as of Monday, I've lost...... ONE POUND! Huzzah. After looking at my food intake, he's convinced that nutrition is what's holding me back. I'm trying to make good choices in my diet, and yet fat still makes up 30+% of my nutrient breakdown. Oops. I know what I should be doing, but not being held accountable to anyone leads to poor choices on my part. I tend to think "Oh it won't matter just this once." But "just this once" happens several times a week! So he's agreed to take 10 minutes out of one session a week and go over nutrition. Knowing that somebody's going to be looking at- and judging me for- my food choices really puts into perspective whether I actually NEED that cheeseburger or not. And usually, I don't.

My goals:
Drink at least 96 oz of water a day
Eat 1650 calories
Nutrition breakdown: 20% fats, 20% protein, 60% carbs
Burn 2650 calories a day (total, including BMR)
Go to the gym at least 3 times a week

I'm going to try to have a "perfect week" and see what my weight loss is on monday. This is encouraging, because I know when I've dieted in the past (Weight Watchers) I'd start out losing something like 4-5 lbs a week before I slowed down. I think (hope) that with being much more strict about my diet, I'll start seeing better results more quickly.

This blog is to record my thoughts, and notes about noteworthy days. Let us begin!
